The Mina Fund's investment in Broadwell Christian Hospital has enabled the transformation of our PMR department from a limited service into a multi-faceted hub for recovery. Dr. Sharina walks us through the newly expanded space, revealing a dedication to both advanced therapy and patient dignity.
Highlights of the new department include:
Pediatric Focus: Dedicated areas and specialized equipment (some custom-made by our staff, like corner chairs and wedges) for children with Cerebral Palsy and developmental delays [01:44].
Adult Care: New equipment like the Quadricep Chair and physical modalities (IFT/TENS, moist heat) to treat chronic pain, arthritis, and post-operative conditions [02:08].
Unmatched Accessibility: Recognizing the difficulty disabled patients face in public, the hospital proudly unveiled a Universal Accessible Washroom [05:31]. Designed with specific dimensions, grab bars, and even a unique mirror to aid spinal cord injury patients, this facility ensures safety, comfort, and independence.
This expansion is only Phase 1. Our next goals are to complete the inclusive children’s play area and raise funds for Phase 2 equipment and, most urgently, to begin training local volunteers to take these life-changing services to five nearby villages [04:35].
