Advancing Surgical Care: New Medical Technology Boosts Capabilities at Giffard Memorial Hospital

Giffard Memorial Hospital (GMH) has reached a significant milestone in its surgical and wound management capabilities. Through a collaborative effort involving the Mina Fund and the generous support of dedicated donors, the hospital has successfully acquired a state-of-the-art integrated surgical tower and advanced wound care technology.

This suite of new equipment equips the medical team at GMH with the precision tools required to manage a wider spectrum of complex clinical cases.

Comprehensive Surgical and Wound Care Upgrades

The newly installed technology includes:

  • Integrated Radiofrequency (RF) System: This high-precision system provides surgeons with the control necessary for complex surgical procedures, ensuring optimal results during tissue debridement and other interventions.

  • Universal Arthroscopic Fluid Pump: This specialized unit maintains clear visibility within the surgical field, allowing for greater accuracy during hysteroscopy, urology, and arthroscopy procedures.

  • Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) VAC Device: To support comprehensive recovery, a new VAC machine is now available. This technology is essential for managing complex wounds, promoting healing, and enhancing patient recovery times.

Transforming Patient Outcomes

The addition of these tools is already transforming the surgical environment at GMH, offering several key benefits:

  • Improved Surgical Precision: With the RF machine and fluid pump now in operation, the medical team at GMH can perform delicate procedures with enhanced control and visualization.

  • Advanced Wound Management: The inclusion of the NPWT VAC device allows the hospital to offer modern, effective wound care solutions, particularly for patients with complex or chronic conditions.

  • Expanded Care Capacity: By upgrading these foundational technologies, GMH is better equipped to handle the evolving healthcare needs of the community.

The Mina Fund is honoured to have facilitated this project. We remain committed to supporting the medical professionals at GMH as they provide essential services to their patients, and we look forward to the positive impact this equipment will have on the health and recovery of their community.
