The Ripple Effect: How Clean Water Protects Lives and Equipment

When we think of hospital donations, we often imagine surgical tools or medicines. But sometimes, the most critical life-saver is clean water. The Mina Fund recently funded the installation of a commercial-grade Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Purification Plant at Broadwell Christian Hospital, and the impact has been twofold.

First, it has immediately improved the health of the hospital’s 'backbone' - the 60 staff members and their families who live on campus. Before this plant, they were forced to drink tap water with dangerous Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels over 500, leading to frequent waterborne illnesses. Today, that risk is gone.

Second, the RO plant protects the hospital's medical investments. Hard water was previously destroying the heating rods in critical sterilization equipment like autoclaves, leading to costly repairs and downtime. Since the RO plant’s installation, equipment maintenance costs have dropped significantly. This proves that a strategic donation to infrastructure keeps the entire hospital healthy - both medically and financially.
